Composed and performed by Paramorph Collective (Kim Farris-Manning and An Laurence), this album was released September 8 2023. A peaceful, caring musical journey for regeneration and healing, "All we’re made of is borrowed" is the Paramorph Collective’s debut album. Their original compositions and arrangements bridge existing works by established Canadian composers Rodney Sharman and Linda Catlin Smith, as well as a new commission by early-career composer Margot George. Arranged as a palindrome, the slowly-building album leads the listener on an intimate auditory journey. The centre-piece of the album, Fruiting bodies, features a custom-built organ synthesizer paired with electric guitar. Different musical temperaments, extreme sound pressure and distortion all play into this exploration of the spectrum of impermanence. George’s piece - and the album as a whole - express multiple dichotomies, both musical and personal. The Paramorph Collective invites you to find a cozy spot, listen and reflect: all we’re made of is borrowed. Let’s hold the time we have left as medicine.
