Kim Farris-Manning was makeup artist and set assistant for Stone Skin, filmed March 2025 in Ottawa, ON with research and creation done in 2023. Kim designed and applied makeup and SFX makeup for Stone Skin. Stone Skin is a short film that fuses dance, animation, music, puppetry, and storytelling to follow the journey of a woman who learns to become stone, and is therefore able to travel through the memory of the earth. This artistic work is driven by a desire to understand the enduring nature of our planet, the interconnectedness of all life, and the significance of stones in representing human experiences such as aging, memory, and loss.
