Kim Farris-Manning was March Break camp co-facilitator, with Rashaan Allwood at Westben in Campbellford, Ontario, in March 2024.
This one-of-a-kind experience invites youth to explore the fascinating intersection of art and nature. Led by the talented Ottawa- and Montreal-based arbor-artist, Kim Farris-Manning, and the multifaceted Toronto musician, Rashaan Allwood, participants will delve into the world of field recording, audio editing, and collaborative storytelling through sound and video. Bring your sense of adventure, warm clothes for outdoor exploration, good walking shoes, lunch, and a recording device (like your phone, optional). Activities will include recording sounds in nature, editing audio, engaging in creative collaboration, storytelling, and crafting a multimedia project. Under the guidance of these accomplished artists, participants will not only learn from multidisciplinary experts but also create alongside their peers. The program promises to impart valuable skills in audio recording and editing techniques, encouraging participants to explore their inner creativity and gain a solid foundation in multimedia project creation.
